who did you love to see the most, and who could you not stand? it's really hard to pick favorites, but Dale has to be the best to me! i really could have done without Evelyn Marsh altogether

(Just writing a quick post here to get started, will try to make my future posts more substantial or interesting). By the way, extremely grateful to have gained admittance here =D So far, I've loved seeing Carl Rodd the most, but my favorite scene/shot has to be Cooper looking out over the expanse of the purple sea... There is just something about that I absolutely cannot put my finger on. As for cannot stand, Chad certainly comes to mind (although I did, I hate to admit this, but I did feel actually bad for him when his coworkers made him leave the room he was eating his lunch in and just stood there without opening the door). Does he deserve that kind of treatment? Yes, sort of, but it still irked me. I don't like even idiotic people being treated that way.

i loved the shot of Cooper too! the whole sequence was beautiful and intriguing! Chad is a pill, but i can understand what you're saying. it's awkward to watch people be tense around each other and in some cases you want the character you like to be nice in spite of the other character being so difficult. i thought it was really interesting seeing Hawk act that way, considering he dealt with Albert and never (that i remember) acted standoffish towards him - though Albert did become lovable very quickly, imo. Chad doesn't have any redeeming qualities so far

Chad truly does not have a single redeeming quality, I agree wholeheartedly! I actually can barely fathom why the TP Sheriff's Department would hire such a person, but it's been said to keep your friends close and enemies even closer, so perhaps they're acting in accordance with the idea behind that (could be reaching too far with that one, but nevertheless...) You put it perfectly, in comparing Albert's personality - totally different scenario with Hawk. I too was very surprised to see him do nothing, but now that I'm thinking over it again, perhaps he did nothing because Chad kind of forced them into that scenario. Watching the scene again, it is very clear how unnecessary Chad's actions and reactions are: He sighs, huffs and puffs, fumbles his things nearing the door, and when he could have easily put his coffee cup down, opened the door, picked his mug up again, and walked through the door, instead of creating that kind of awkwardness). After review, I wish to retract my original post regarding 'Chad's treatment.' It was actually he treating Bobby, Truman, and Hawk without concern, not the other way around. Thank you for pointing this out to me! I really appreciate how you phrased what you wrote, Goziebozia, as it prompted a sharper look into what I mistook as Hawk's unwillingness to help. I now think that Hawk probably did Chad a favor in turning it around on him, forcing him to ask for a little help, silently allowing Chad to confront his own absurd behavior (which he failed to realize, emphasized by Chad's admonishing/frustrated half-glance toward the Sheriff once the door was opened for him). Interesting how Lynch constructs these scenes...
